Birmingham, Brownhills, Castle Bromwich, Dudley, Hampton-in-Arden, Penn, Sheldon and Wolverhampton are among the locations to benefit from Openreach's largest ever recruitment drive. The 3,500 new engineers across the UK will help deliver ultrafast Fibre to the Premises broadband to three million premises, support evolving mobile networks and improve customer service.

Birmingham is one of eight cities named today by Openreach to lead the drive for ultrafast broadband, as build accelerates from 2018 to cover urban and rural communities. The news has been welcomed by West Midlands Mayor, Andy Street. Openreach's programme is set to reach 10 million homes and businesses by mid-2020s. Openreach is also recruiting and training 3,000 field engineers during 2018.
