Abingdon, Banbury, Henley, Oxford and Witney among the locations to benefit from Openreach's largest recruitment drive. The business is taking on 3,500 new engineers across the UK to help deliver ultrafast Fibre to the Premises broadband to three million premises, support evolving mobile networks and improve customer service. Chancellor of the Exchequer, Philip Hammond has welcomed the news.

Areas of the South East - including parts of Oxfordshire - are to get an £88.1 million boost from local community fibre broadband schemes, according to a new study. Faster broadband boosts house prices and business success as well as providing a range of social benefits for rural communities, it claims, as more communities form partnerships with Openreach to get the technology.

Goosey quick! The tiny Oxfordshire village of Goosey Wick will be the first to benefit from a new £600,000 Oxfordshire faster broadband fund, led by Oxfordshire County Council and Openreach, as part of the Better Broadband for Oxfordshire programme. The county council hopes other remote communities, who are not part of any public or private sector upgrade roll-out, will follow suit.
