More premises across Dumfries and Galloway can now upgrade to faster fibre broadband through the £442 million Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband (DSSB) rollout. The new network has arrived in Dalbeattie with more fibre now available in Kirkgunzeon, Haugh of Urr, Ringford, Dumfries, Collin, Lochmaben and Kirtlebridge.

Dumfriesshire MSP Oliver Mundell was out in the field with Openreach engineers this week (Monday) to see the progress that’s been made with fibre broadband and customer service in Dumfries and Galloway. Engineers also updated him on the company’s plans to roll out the next generation of broadband technology – future-proof, full-fibre services capable of carrying speeds up to 1Gbps.

More premises across Dumfries and Galloway can now upgrade to faster fibre broadband through the £428 million Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband rollout, which has now reached Carsluith for the first time, with more coverage being rolled out in Sanquhar and Port William.

On a fact-finding field trip with engineers, the MP and Secretary of State for Scotland watched an installation of more reliable, ultrafast Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP).
